Route to Preveza

Nicopolis
A few kilometers outside of Preveza we find the ruins and the museum of ancient Nicopolis (in greek: "city of victory") -one of the most important cities of the early Roman and Christian eras. Roman Emperor Octavian founded the city in celebration of his victory over Marcus Antonius and Cleopatra in the naval battle of Actium, outside Preveza, in 31 BC. The significance and cultural strength of the city can be seen in its prominent castle walls, two large theatres, aqueduct, as well as several Byzantine monuments. The ancient ruins of Nicopolis are a beautiful site, and are truly worth visiting.

Preveza
The picturesque town of Preveza, built in the narrow entrance of the Amvrakikos gulf, is an interesting destination. The Neoclassical architecture of the old town, the outdoor market, and its renowned fish taverns that line the harbor, make Preveza a treat to the visitor in the summertime.
